To preserve the integrity of the Olive Wood handle and the steel blade, we strongly recommend hand washing only. Simply rinse with warm water and mild soap, then dry thoroughly.

How do I care for the Olive Wood handle?

Hand wash the handle with mild dish soap and water and dry thoroughly after washing. Avoid soaking the handle in water. Occasionally apply a small amount of food-safe oil (such as mineral oil) or Wood Conditioner to maintain handle appearance and prevent drying or cracking.

How should the Cleaver be stored?

Each Cleaver includes a custom Olive Green Italian leather sheath, handcrafted in the USA, to protect the blade and ensure safe storage in drawers. The Cleaver fits on our Countertop Knife Block and can also be safely hung using the circular cut-out in the blade.

Inspired by old-school butcher shops, it’s optimized for cutting extremely close to the bone, chopping through tough tendons, and can tackle thick-skinned vegetables.

The Cleaver is crafted in Thiers, France, where a 5th generation bladesmith hand-finishes the Olive Wood handle. It comes with an olive green leather sheath that’s tanned and finished in the Netherlands.
