# Nancy Silverton’s Stuffing - Made In

An expert on all things bread, we deferred to Chef Nancy Silverton when it comes to this essential side featuring a variety of herbs as well as kale and chard.

As much as Thanksgiving is about the turkey, it’s also a time for sides to shine. An important part of the holiday spread, most stuffing uses stale bread. For our [1st Annual Thanksgiving Menu](/blogs/thanksgiving-menu-2022), Chef Nancy Silverton uses fresh bread instead, dried in a low oven. This keeps it from getting too dry, which can lead to mushy stuffing as the bread soaks up liquid in the oven.

In true California fashion, Chef Silverton also adds greens to her stuffing, which are wilted with the aromatics. They cook into silky, dark ribbons, adding flavor and color to a dish that miles away from anything that came out of a box. The whole thing bakes beautifully in our [9x13 Baking Dish](https://madeincookware.com/products/rectangular-baking-dish/9x13-inch-nancy-silverton), and thanks to porcelain’s natural non stick properties, you’ll have at least one easy dish once your guests leave.
