Weโ€™re long-time fans of Traeger, the company behind our favoriteโ€”as well as the O.G.โ€”wood pellet grill. Thatโ€™s why we collaborated with Traeger on a brand-new product designed to maximize the smoky, wood-fired flavor and fall-apart tenderness of meat cooked on Traeger grills: the Enameled Cast Iron Braiser.

Today, weโ€™re sharing the origin story of this brand-new collaboration, and showing you some of the many ways a braiser can enhance your grilling routine.

Match Destined for High-Impact Flavor

A person seasons sausages sizzling in a pan on a stove, sprinkling herbs for added flavor.

Traeger has been perfecting their high-tech smokers for over thirty years, ever since they rolled out their signature wood pellet grillโ€”an incredibly versatile piece of equipment that allows you to grill, smoke, bake, roast, braise, and barbecue all in one. Their devotion to detail matched our obsession with restaurant-quality craftsmanship, so we knew that a collaboration was in order.

While we often give our proteins a hearty sear before adding them to a braise or a stew, we love adding a bit of smoke to a dish. With the grill-friendly Traeger x Made In Enameled Cast Iron Braiser, you can cook your ribs, brisket, and sausages to smoky perfection directly on the grates before adding them to the preheated braiser for a low, slow simmer.

Heritage Cast Iron

A cast iron skillet rests on a gas grill's grates, ready for outdoor cooking.

Our heritage cast iron is poured and hand-enameled at a foundry in Northern France thatโ€™s been producing the worldโ€™s finest cast iron for over a century โ€” making the Braiser a tool you can pass down for generations. Known for its exceptional heat retention and durability, cast iron is incredibly effective at evenly absorbing and distributing heat, keeping your smoked ribs, pork shoulder, and other proteins tender and moist.

By using intense, direct heat to sear your meat to perfection, cast iron also further amps up the smoky, savory flavors imparted by your grill, adding additional complexity to your dish. And since naturally non stick enamel coating requires no seasoning or special maintenance, the Braiser will be a breeze to cleanโ€”even after a multi-hour braise.

Designed for Braising

A person is cooking with a skillet outdoors, with steam rising from a bubbling sauce.

Built to perform just as well in a regular oven as in a smoker, the braiser is our first-ever shape designed explicitly for braisingโ€”so it had to be really well-suited for just that. Featuring gradually slanting walls, a proprietary Cloud Cover Lid, and a 3.5-quart capacity, it was designed to fit large cuts of meat (like a rack of ribs) and to keep ingredients partially submerged in your cooking liquid of choice, helping them tenderize and render.

Our Cloud Cover Lid also uses pea-sized dimples to circulate steam throughout the cooking process, which prevents your dish from drying out.
