How should I clean my carbon steel griddle after each use?

Let the griddle cool slightly after cooking, then wipe away food residue with a paper towel. For anything stuck on, use warm water and a soft sponge—avoid dish soap and steel wool, which can strip the seasoning. Dry thoroughly and apply a light layer of oil before storing. Is the griddle compatible with all types of cooktops and grills?

You can use your griddle on gas, electric, or induction cooktops (including glass-topped stoves), as well as on outdoor grills and even over an open flame. It's designed for versatility.
Does the griddle need to be seasoned before first use?

Your griddle comes pre-seasoned with two layers of coconut and shea nut oil to enable you to start cooking right out of the box. We recommend a quick rinse with warm water and a soft sponge before your first cook, and cooking foods high in fat (like burgers, steaks, and bacon) for your first few uses—this will help to build on the existing seasoning and further create a naturally non stick surface.
What types of food are best to cook on the griddle?

The griddle is incredibly versatile and can be used to cook just about anything. We like using it for smash burgers, pancakes, eggs, grilled cheese or paninis, grilled veggies, hashbrowns, and more. The large, flat surface and excellent heat retention make it perfect for cooking multiple items at once.
What are the dimensions and cooking surface area?

The Griddle measures 8.5" x 17.5" of usable cooking space—plenty of room for several burgers or a full breakfast spread.
- Total Length: 24”
- Total Width: 10.5”
- Total Height: 1.5”
- Cooking Surface Area: 8.5" x 17.5"
- Depth: 0.5”
- Weight: 9.9 lbs
How to maintain the non stick surface over time?

To build and maintain the naturally non stick surface of your griddle, use your griddle often, clean it gently, and always dry and oil it after use. These steps will help maintain and deepen the non-stick patina that builds naturally with cooking.
If you store your griddle away for winter, live in a particularly humid area, or know you won’t be reaching for it for a spell, give it a quick wipe with a little neutral oil and a paper towel every so often—this protects the surface from drying out or rusting.
Can I use metal utensils on the griddle?

Yes, though we also recommend wood or silicone utensils to avoid scratching through the seasoning layer. If you do use sharp-edged metal utensils, be gentle.
How should I store the griddle to prevent rust?

Due to the high iron content, all carbon steel cookware is prone to rusting (luckily, it’s rust is easy to remove even if it does happen). To prevent it, make sure your griddle is completely dry before storing; we recommend heating it over low on the stovetop after washing to make sure it’s bone dry. Apply a light coat of oil after each use and store safely in a cabinet, on the stove, or in the Griddle Utility Bag. If stacking with other cookware, place a towel between pans to prevent scratching.
Is the griddle heavy or hard to handle?

Made from 4mm professional-grade carbon steel, our Griddle clocks in at 9.9 pounds. We found this was heavy enough for even heating and durable enough to last a lifetime, while remaining lighter and easier to maneuver than cast iron.
Can I use the griddle over an open flame or campfire?

The Griddle is built to handle extreme heat—up to 1200F—so we encourage taking it outdoors and cooking with it over a campfire or grill. It ensures no food is lost through the grates or to the ashes while preserving that smoky, flame-kissed flavor.
How is this different from a cast iron griddle?

Carbon steel is lighter weight, heats up faster, and is more responsive to temperature changes than cast iron. It offers similar searing and browning capabilities without the bulk.
Why is my griddle changing color? Is that normal?

As your seasoning layers continue to build, the surface will develop dark spots and a deep patina over time. This is completely normal and actually improves its naturally non stick performance.
What kind of oil should be used for seasoning or cooking?

Choose neutral cooking oils with a high smoke point like grapeseed, canola, or vegetable oil. These oils polymerize well and help build a durable non-stick surface. Avoid seasoning with flavored oils, like sesame, truffle, or olive oil.
Can the griddle be used in the oven?

Absolutely. The griddle is oven-safe at high temperatures, which makes it great for oven-finishing dishes or roasting ingredients.
