Much like painting a masterpiece, achieving the perfect grilled burger requires a combination of skills, practice, the right tools, and a healthy dose of patience. Despite your best efforts, you could still end up with an overcooked, dry, or burnt patty instead of one that's perfectly grilled, juicy and flavorful.

There are a number of factors that help you achieve the perfect burger, from the kind of meat you're using to the temperature of the grill. In this post, we'll show you the steps needed to make your backyard the next go-to burger spot this summer.

    Gather the Right Materials

The first step towards the perfect grilled burger is making sure you have the right tools. Our Carbon Steel Griddle acts as a flat top surface atop your grill or stove, perfect for searing and smashing patties, toasting buns, and grilling onions. The raised sides allow for the addition of butter and fats to enhance flavor, without fear of it dripping onto your cooking surface or causing a flare-up.

If the Griddle is the star of the show, the Stainless Steel Grill Press is the supporting cast—you can't have one without the other. The Grill Press maximizes contact between ingredients and the cooking surface, perfect for achieving lacy-edged smashed patties. Since it's made of durable Stainless Steel that's oven-safe up to 800F, it's safe for use over the grill or even an open flame.

    Get Ripping Hot

As our Culinary Creative Director Rhoda Boone explains in the above video, the second step to the perfect burger is to crank the heat up. She recommends placing your Griddle over high heat on your grill and closing the lid to allow the griddle to preheat up to a high temperature. And since the Griddle is safe up to 1200F, you can get it nice and hot without fear of it warping.

A ripping hot surface ensures the outside of your burger is nice and crispy without overcooking the interior, leading to a perfectly juicy bite.

    Form and Smash the Patties

When choosing your burger meat, we recommend selecting grass-fed 80%/20% ground beef. Pack the ground beef into quarter pound, loosely packed balls so you can easily smash the burgers flat on the griddle without any resistance or losing any mean.

After placing the ground beef balls onto your griddle, quickly smash the patties—within 30 seconds of placing them on the griddle—to get a good sear going. It's time to flip when the juices start to accumulate on the top of your burger, typically about two minutes per side.

    Grill All Year Long

Our Carbon Steel Griddle is the perfect solution for grill enthusiasts who want to keep grilling indoors, even during the cold or rainy months. The versatility and durability of the griddle allows you to easily transform your indoor stove into a grill, unlocking delicious grilled dishes all year round.

In summary, the Carbon Steel Griddle helps satisfy your craving for grilled dishes anytime, anywhere, without worrying about the weather outside.

    Ready to Cook?

The Carbon Steel Griddle is the ultimate tool for perfecting burgers on the grill. With its durable and versatile carbon steel construction, it heats up quickly and can withstand temperatures up to 1200F, allowing you to get a perfect crust on your juicy burger. Plus, the large cooking surface area means you can cook multiple burgers at once or your buns, onions, and burgers at the same time.

The Griddle can be used on the stovetop, in the oven, or over an open flame, making it a versatile and valuable addition to any kitchen or grill set-up.
