At the heart of high-heat cooking lies the wokโa tool synonymous with movement, heat, and versatility. Recognizing the challenges posed by traditional woks, our team embarked on a journey to reimagine this essential kitchen tool, resulting in the next generation of our Carbon Steel Wok.
Traditional woks often come with shortcomings: conical bottoms that are incompatible with home stoves, handles that are too short or thin, excessive weight that hampers maneuverability, and the necessity for a lengthy seasoning process before achieving nonstick capabilities. Our goal was to ensure our new Wok addressed all of these issues (and more). Here, weโll go behind the scenes of the design process leading to our newly improved, seasoned wok.
The 1.5mm Carbon Steel Advantage

The first step we saw as completely necessary was refining our Wok to a 1.5mm thickness. This is a thinner, significantly lighter gauge than our previous iteration without sacrificing durability. A thinner gauge means faster heat retention and response, passing on better control, faster cooking, and more consistent results.
A Handle Designed for Control

For the first time, we incorporated our Stay Cool Handle onto a piece of cookware outside of Stainless Clad. This handle is longer, more comfortable, and perfectly weighted, providing unparalleled control. The hollow interior dissipates stovetop heat away from your hand back toward the pan, protecting fingers and palms from too-hot handles (note that the handle will be hot if used in the oven).
