What is Vitrification?

Vitrification is the process of heating the plateware to its boiling point and then firing them in the kiln to give the clay a smooth glasslike surface. This virtually eliminates pores making the plates stronger and more resistant to bacteria. Additionally, they’re easily able to withstand our stainless steel flatware. This is the gold standard for any dining room setting in the hospitality industry, and now is available for your home too.

Yes, our Serving Platters are built to last. Most restaurants and hotels use vitrified plates as chipped plates are dangerous and a violation of health and safety codes. If your Made In plateware chips within your first year of purchase, we’ll replace it. No questions asked.
