## Description

Our American-Made Cast Iron is sand-cast at a single American foundry, then machined, precision-turned, and buffed to a consistently smooth finish that lets seasoning bond evenly, cook after cook. Each pan arrives pre-seasoned in our proprietary organic flaxseed oil blend, prized for its smooth polymerization and golden finish. The walls are dialed thinner than the base, preserving heat retention right at the cooking surface while cutting overall weight.

Designed for how chefs actually cook with cast iron, not how it's always been made, our 12" Seasoned Cast Iron Skillet is the family pan. Big enough for two ribeyes side by side and balanced to move from cooktop to oven to table, its interior follows a chef-informed bowl shape that mirrors the curve of a basting spoon. The Trigger Grip Handle carries Made In's iconic Stainless ergonomics into cast iron, and Dual Pour Spouts on both sides let you pour with your dominant hand. Safe for gas, electric, induction, oven, and live fire.

## FAQs

### Where is this cast iron made?

All of our cast iron is sand-cast at a single foundry in the United States, then machined, lathed, and buffed to a smooth finish in-house. It's American-made from start to finish.

### Do the pans come pre-seasoned?

Yes. Every piece arrives pre-seasoned in our proprietary organic flaxseed oil blend. Flaxseed oil polymerizes exceptionally smoothly, giving you a golden, even base layer that's ready to cook on from the first use.

### Why is the finish smoother than other cast iron?

Most cast iron retains the rough, pebbly texture of the raw sand-cast surface. Ours is machined, lathed, and buffed after casting, which creates a consistently smooth cooking surface so seasoning bonds evenly and builds up predictably over time.

### Is this cast iron lighter than traditional pans?

Yes. We've lathed the walls to be subtly thinner than the base. That keeps heat concentrated at the cooking surface, where you actually want it, while reducing the overall weight of the pan.

### Which skillet size should I start with?

It depends on how you cook most often. The 8" is ideal for single-serving tasks like a fried egg or seared steak for one. The 10" is the most versatile everyday size, handling a chicken breast or batch of cornbread with ease. The 12" is built for feeding a crowd — it fits two ribeyes side by side and moves from cooktop to oven to table.

### What cooktops and heat sources are these compatible with?

All of our Seasoned Cast Iron is compatible with gas, electric, induction, and oven use, and are safe for live fire (campfire, grill, open flame).

### How do I care for and maintain the seasoning?

The best way to maintain cast iron is to cook with it regularly, especially with fats. Avoid extended soaking in water or dishwashers. After cooking, wipe clean while still warm, dry thoroughly, and apply a very light coat of oil before storing. The smooth machined surface makes re-seasoning easier than rough-cast alternatives.

## Customer Reviews

### ★★★★★ Cast Iron for Life

This does so much well - searing meat, deep dish pizza, cornbread, etc. It's a real workhorse.

— Aaron S.

### ★★★★☆ Pointed Dent in middle of pan

After reading so many positive reviews I feel I need to ask one question, has any one else notice a hammered point dent right in the middle of the pan, with a semi dark ring around the dent ? Is this normal ? Why is it there? Besides this weird dent the surface of the pan / skillet is smooth .

— CrazyGreek

### ★★★★★ Best sears ever!

Worth every penny! A pleasure to sear my steaks. Edge to edge perfect sear. And I use less heat now by far.

— Joe Vad

### ★★★★★ Rock Solid

Exactly as advertised - solid, but not as heavy as other pans I’ve used of the same size, and the handle is brilliant, an example of the company’s attention to detail.

— Marcus

### ★★★★★ An upgrade to my skillets

Very nice cast iron skillet. Will last very long.

— Anonymous

### ★★★★★ Extremely pleased with this excellent cast iron pa

This is a professional-quality cast iron pan. It has excellent handles. It is very well made. The surface is extremely smooth and absolutely nothing stuck to it the first time I used it. I highly recommend this pan.

— Scott Thomas

### ★★★★★ Perfect pan

Best pan I've ever used. Quality is amazing and it's one pan I use everyday.

— Jazz B

### ★★★★★ Cast Iron Bliss

A great addition to any kitchen. Pan searing is easy with this pan. A must have!

— E Leek

### ★★★★★ Buy it and enjoy the sear

Cast Iron might be Made In’s latest material, but it is certainly one of their best. The 10-inch size is perfect and it is lighter than my Lodge 10-inch cast iron skillet. However the build quality, ergonomic handles and the super smooth pre-seasoned layer makes it easy to use.

— NS

### ★★★★★ I call this skillet “my baby”

This is my first cast iron skillet and I am officially in love! It’s extremely well-balanced for a 12 inch, the helper handle and the main handle are super comfortable. When you get it out of the box, it’s a work of art, I almost regret it seasoning so fast and turning darker the more I cook with it. One day I will get one for just hanging it on the wall as a display piece. Cooking surface - super smooth but seasons well (it is fine to cook with right out of the box). It’s heavy but it’s so balanced and comfortable that I wouldn’t want it any other way. It’s in a league of its own. It’s way more reasonably priced than skillets by Smithey or Field Company but according to Prudent Reviews delivers superior results. Lodge skillets are on the other end of the price spectrum but after you’ve held this beauty from Made In in your hands, you wouldn’t mind the difference in the price tag. Also, it’s very easy to maintain (no extra grooves or complex handles that would make the upkeep tedious). If you live cast iron or considering switching, treat yourself to something nice, get this skillet.

— Anna

### ★★★★★ Only the best for my food

All I use is cast iron and carbon steel and these are the best pans I have ever used.

— Chris

### ★★★★★ Loving these cast iron skillets

These cast iron skillets are worthy of the great reviews. Definitely not average cast iron. Thoughtful design and workmanship shine through in the way food cooks in them. They were seasoned once when they arrived and then put to work. It’s hard to describe but food feels like it’s almost floating above the surface of the oil/skillet as you stir. Naturally, I keep reaching for them and continue to be amazed each time I cook in them. Couldn’t be more pleased with this purchase.

— AlexisH

### ★★★★★ Best ever

Why buy regular cast iron when you can have this skillet?

— Anonymous

### ★★★★★ One of the best

One of the best cast iron skillet that I’ve owned. Been using cast iron cookware for over 50 years.

— Tinner44

### ★★★★☆ Gift

I have this as a gift to my son. I did open it up and check it out. The quality looked good. Good weight to it. The only thing it had some sharp edges on it at the top of the skillet. This skillet is on the higher end and I would expect a little more on the QC.

— Chad

### ★★★★★ Throw away your old cast iron pan.

Great Pan- creates an amazing crust on steak, chicken and made the best scallops ever. Best part, much easier to clean than traditional cast iron pan. Also maintains heat and distributes very evenly. Must have for your kitchen

— Lee G.

### ★★★★★ A great pan!

This is a fantastic pan. It came well seasoned, and is getting better with every use. I much prefer the smooth interior, and it is lighter so easier to maneuver on the stove or lift into the oven. Worth the price!

— TL Sime

### ★★★★★ Top tier

These are the best pans I’ve ever used, I’m constantly adding new additions from various lines that are offered. 10/10 I’m a customer for life

— Dustin

### ★★★★★ Luxury Cast Iron

As cast iron skillets go this one is as good as it gets. It arrived actually pre-seasoned and is getting better with use. While it's more expensive than your typical black cast iron skillet it's a more refined (and better looking) version with the same potential to become a family heirloom.

— Howard B.

### ★★★★★ 12 " Seasoned Cast Iron Skillet

Im really glad, that i purchased this pan. It's well made. Its lighter than other cast iron pans, that i have owned. I love the smooth cooking surface, as wel as, the trigger-grip handle and dual pour spouts.

— Doug Taylor

### ★★★★★ Having fun

Having fun learning how to cook with this beautiful cast iron pan !

— Peggy B

### ★★★★★ Exceeded my expectations!

This is the best cast iron skillet I've seen and used. It's beautiful. I cooked a ribeye on it first, and it put that super sear crust on it. It releases like a non stick pan right out the box too. It was definitely a pleasant surprise. Best quality skillet I have ever owned. Thank you!

— JPatel

### ★★★★★ 3 Pan Set

I was very happy when my set arrived. The pans feel very heavy duty and like they will last for years! I’ve enjoyed cooking on them so far with no complaints!

— T

### ★★★★★ SEASONED CAST IRON

So happy I got the Seasoned Cast Iron set. It’s beautiful and cooks amazingly. My son is hoping I’ll give him one of them….I don’t think it’s going to happen. 🤣

— Brandae

### ★★★★★ Great pan

Easy to use because of the second handle in addition to the main handle. I melted butter in the oven for corn bread and having the 2 handles made it more balanced as I removed it from the oven. The corn bread came out perfect on my 1st.use!
Cleaning was a breeze. I washed it with hot water, then dried it,placed it on the stove & applied a thin layer of oil.

— Mama z

### ★★★★★ Highly recommended.

I’ve been cooking with cast iron for years. The “Made In” skillet adds a new dimension. Extremely well made, a positive joy for anyone who appreciates the advantages of cooking with cast iron.

— Gary

### ★★★★★ Awsome

Right off the start, a winner.
I cooked Calabrian chili, garlic, broccolini that came out perfect.
I have cooked this dish hundreds of times but this pan made the perfect dish as I just cooked it.

— Bd58

### ★★★★★ Best cast iron.

Best cast iron I've ever used. Love the machined finish and that it's seasoned and ready to use right out of the box.

— CB

### ★★★★★ Better buy this skillet!

This is an EXCELLENT cast iron skillet. It is a fair bit lighter than my other 12" skillet made by Lodge. I especially like the smooth interior bottom as it is better for non-stick. (Also like the color, though I know the color wont last as it further seasons.)

— Doug Price in Alabama

### ★★★★★ New 12" Skillet

Very happy with my new skillet. It seems light weight for its size. It cleans up nicely.
