# 12" Seasoned Carbon Steel Frying Pan - Made In

Our Award-Winning Carbon Steel Frying Pans are heirloom-quality pieces that are durable enough for use on stoves, grills, ovens, or over open flame.

Our best-selling Carbon Steel Frying Pan, now seasoned to help you achieve a naturally non stick surface.

## Description

Pre-seasoned with a mixture of shea nut oil and coconut oil, we’ve taken care of the first two seasonings (the hardest ones) so you can experience the difference Carbon Steel makes on day one. Our Carbon Steel combines the heat retention of cast iron with the control and maneuverability of Stainless Clad, resulting in a natural non stick alternative.

We stamp Carbon Steel into a thin disc that’s half the weight of cast iron but every bit as durable—so it seasons faster, responds quicker, and is rugged enough for your grill or open flame.

With sloping walls and a wide surface, this pan provides maximum heat contact for high-heat searing. The hollow build of our proprietary Stay Cool Handle™ dissipates heat to keep it from getting scalding hot while on the stovetop. This means the heat stays on your ingredients, not your hands. See how this chef-loved pan will replace cast iron as your favorite kitchen heirloom.

### ★★★★★ Some quirks, but ultimately solid

Overall, the carbon steel frypan compares favorably with the Matfer Bourgeat and DeBuyer Mineral B Pro. When the pan first arrived and I saw the textured finish, my heart sank. I’ve sanded smooth a cast iron pan and I was not going to do it again. Apparently the early versions of the Made in CS pans had smooth finishes, which is what I expected. The new pan has a very rough texture that looks and feels like a Lodge CI pan. I am not going to sand another pan, so I thought about returning it and actually spent a few days just looking at it and researching. The rough texture allows the seasoning to stick better, but gives resistance when trying to slide food around. I decided to try to work with it. I like the slope and height of the sidewalls enough to give it a shot. I figured if it sucked, I could always return it. I gave it three additional layers of seasoning, and It’s started to smooth out inside. My first cooking attempts were not great. Lots of sticking, but the seasoning continued to build, and I learned how to better control heat. It handles much differently than stainless clad, so I had to change my approach. When I first got fried eggs to slide around and not burn, my attitude changed. Cooked cold pan chicken thighs -perfect. Seared a salmon fillet -perfect. Seared a steak -almost perfect (user error). My perseverance paid off and I’m enjoying my CS pan very much. It’s a keeper. So the positives: shape and height of sidewalls, plus it handles induction quite well. Negatives: I’d still prefer it was smooth, not textured, but I can live with it. The handle. I don’t understand it. I’d be fine with the same stay cool handles that are on the stainless clad pans. The curved and flat handle on the CS skillet is attractive, but weird. I’m getting used to it though. I’d still prefer the flatter “standard” hollow handle. If the 5 quart saucier didn’t work so well for stir fry, I’d consider getting the wok. Bottom line: the pan has some quirks, but it has stayed flat on my induction burner, the seasoning is solid, weight is good, and it cooks well. 4.5 stars.

I don’t know what to say. Bought the seasoned 10″ pan. Used it and it definitely was not non stick. So, seasoned it per video on the subject. Picture attached of results. What am I doing wrong????

Love the quality.

Just be aware of the size. I previously purchased the 10 inch ceramic pan, and expected the 10 inch carbon steel pan to be the same size. But the carbon steel pan was much smaller.

### ★★★★★ A must for searing steak

So much better than my cast iron for searing steak. It heats up and cools down quickly, and it comes in a really nice bag for storage, which I love for putting it away and not worrying about that thin layer of oil you put back on it after cleaning getting all over the place.

### ★★★★★ Better than my cast iron

I love this pan. Lighter than my cast iron skillet, but works just as well if not better

— Jeff

### ★★★★★ First Use!!

I made my first ribeye in it last night. It was perfection. Love the pre-seasoned carbon steel cookware!!

### ★★★★★

This pan is the best I’ve used for frying bacon. Even heat makes for crisp bacon!!

### ★★★★☆

Bought from steak. I like the pan, but I use induction - so I find it hard to keep the bottom clean enough to not ruin my cooktop (wish I also had gas). When I washed the exterior, rusted. If I season the bottom, the oil is not good for my induction top. May need to relegate to my grill (unless any suggestions). Love my other Madein products

I bought this for My Mom. It was pretty seasoned and ready to go!

She loved the lower weight to a traditional cast iron pan but liked all the similarities it shared.

She had an issue with the initial pan which was resolved superbly and immediately by Made In. Great experience, great product. My Mom is a fanatic now.

The 10in. Carbon Steel Frying Pan is as good as it gets. You won't find a better carbon steel pan, unless they make one. I absolutely love it. I will buy the 8in. next.

### ★★★★★

Treat this pan well and you can cook virtually anything. This is my go-to pan for eggs and pan-roasted fish. Does a great job with anything though. Did I mention that it's my go-to egg pan? No weird chemicals, just perfect eggs - scrambled, Sunnyside, omelettes. Great for steaks and way lighter than cast iron. It can handle the grill too.

### ★★★☆☆

This pan could be very good for the right thing but for my needs I want to get a more traditional non stick pan from Made In. It’s very well made and has a substantial feel and weight to it.

Quality seems great. Still getting used to the heat transfer and using these vs standard pans. So happy to have something like my cast iron without the weight
