The original CeramiClad® was a good ceramic non-stick pan, earning a 4.6/5.0 on product reviews. CeramiClad® 2.0 is a better one — and the difference is structural, not cosmetic.

The reinforced bond layer is the engineering story here. Ceramic coatings fail when heat cycles create micro-fractures between the topcoat and the base — tiny cracks that spread over months of cooking until the coating chips, stains, or loses its release. The bond layer sits between the ceramic topcoat and the primer, absorbing thermal stress rather than transferring it to the surface.

It's the difference between a coating that degrades gradually from the first month and one that holds its performance significantly longer.

We are transitioning into a phase of transparency, retiring vague claims — it doesn't tell you how non-stick, or for how long.

CeramiClad® 2.0 releases 140+ oil-free eggs before failure, tested at 356°F using the testing benchmark. The original CeramiClad® released approximately 100.

That's a 40% improvement in food release — without adding any chemical coating, without PTFE, without compromising the clean composition.

### How the test works

The non-stick test is straightforward, yet it pushes the pan to its extreme limits: wash the pan, preheat it for 30 minutes until the surface starts to break down, then let it cool. Then fry 10 eggs at 356–374°F without oil, for 100 seconds each. That's one cycle. The test fails when an egg fully sticks twice in a row. This is to test the pan’s upper limits.

CeramiClad® 2.0 lasted 14+ cycles before failure, up from 10 in CeramiClad® 1.0. No oil. No butter. Just ceramic and heat.

## CeramiClad® is 43% More Durable

Durability is where most ceramic cookware falls short. The coating works well for a few months, then starts to chip, stain, and lose its release. We've heard the complaints — from our own customers and from the broader market.

CeramiClad® 2.0 survived 200,000+ cycles under a steel brush in detergent water before any substrate was exposed. The original CeramiClad® lasted approximately 140,000 cycles under the same conditions.

That's a 43% improvement in abrasion resistance.

### What the test looks like

The abrasion test uses a 3M stainless-steel brush on a Taber abrader — 1 kg of load, 60 rpm, running in 0.5% detergent water. The surface is checked every 20,000 cycles. The test fails when the substrate beneath the coating is exposed.

200,000 cycles is a lot of steel brushes. It's not a guarantee your pan will last forever — no ceramic coating will — but it means the coating architecture holds up to significantly more wear than the previous generation. This also does not mean there we no surface scratches, but this was to see how many cycles fully broke the surface structure.

### Hardness Improved: 9H vs. 7H

The new reinforced bond layer also improved pencil hardness from 7H to 9H. That's the top of the pencil hardness scale. Combined with 25/25 cross-cut adhesion and an impact test pass (500g steel ball dropped from 100 cm), the coating resists chipping, scratching, and delamination better than any ceramic we've made.

## Same Clean Composition

This is the part that didn't change — and shouldn't.

CeramiClad® 2.0 uses silica-alumina chemistry. The same clean foundation as the original. This means:

No forever chemicals. No heavy metals. No compromises to get the performance improvements. The coating is cleaner than what most competitors put on their “non-toxic” pans — and we have the extraction data to back it.

CeramiClad® 2.0 has a far-infrared emissivity of 0.921. Uncoated aluminum sits at 0.209. What that means in practice: the ceramic surface converts more of the burner's energy into heat that reaches your food, rather than radiating it off as waste heat.

The result is faster searing, more even browning, and quicker temperature recovery when you add cold ingredients to a hot pan. Infrared thermal imaging shows a 73°C temperature advantage over uncoated aluminum after just four minutes on the same burner.

## What Didn't Change in CeramiClad® 2.0

The 5-ply stainless core is the same. Fully clad, 18/10 stainless steel, aluminum-core, running rim-to-base. Oven-safe, induction-compatible.

We didn't change the core because the core was never the concern with Ceramic pans. Ceramic non-stick cookware lives or dies on its coating. That's where we spent the R&D.
