A Note From The Founders: Stainless Clad Manufacturing

At Made In, we travel the globe in search of multi-generational, family-run operations and expert cookware makers who take pride in what they make and how they make it. We only work with the best manufacturing partners to create superior cookware and kitchen tools, and that’s why we stand behind our products fully and transparently. We know that we’re not cutting any corners and that we’re bringing you tools you can rely on today, tomorrow, and decades from now (it’s also why so many professional chefs are outfitting their restaurant kitchens with Made In).

When we started Made In in 2017, we launched with a line of stainless clad cookware sourced and manufactured in the United States. As we grew, we started expanding that line — first a saucier, then color-wrapped pans, then a larger saucepan with a helper handle. From there, we knew we wanted to introduce home chefs to fully-forged knives and carbon steel. That’s why we crossed the Atlantic and began manufacturing in France, where we were able to find factories that exceeded our high standards. We started making fully-forged knives in the birthplace of chef knives (Thiers, France) and partnered with a 3rd generation French carbon steel manufacturer to create a whole new collection of blue carbon steel products.

As we reach a wider audience and expand our customer base, we’re now leaning on an amazing new Italian partner to work hand-in-hand with our American factory as a means of helping us scale production of our stainless clad line. Starting this month, our Italian factory will spearhead the manufacturing of our stainless clad saucepans, stock pots, and saute pans, while our American factory will continue production of all Made In frying pans. This Italian factory, located outside Milan, has been known for producing the world’s highest-performing cookware over multiple generations. We’re thrilled with the quality coming from both factories and we know our customers will continue to be impressed.

When you have a great pan that heats evenly (and actually sears your chicken breast) or a super knife that glides through vegetable prep, you get excited about cooking. Cooking becomes a skill, a hobby, an excuse to learn something new or host a group of family or friends. It’s our mission to equip home chefs and professional chefs with premium, well-made products that fuel their passion for cooking and their meals. And, with the addition of our new factory, we’re excited to never have a shortage of great gear for your kitchen.

(Psssttt... Stainless clad might not be the only thing we have in the works... Be on the lookout for new collections in 2020 and beyond)

Thanks for the information. I wondered why my new Christmas present, the Madw In 3 quart saucepan said Made In Italy. Now I understand. I really do love this pan.

My Saucier and Stock Pot purchased in Nov 2019 were made in this Italian factory (stamped on the bottom). While I cannot yet comment on the longevity and resilience, the quality and design deliver an almost emotional experience. Great job in being fully transparent about the design and manufacturing process. Great content to keep us engaged too!
